Help-- red footed baby coming tomorrow and I forgot to find out about substrate!!!

Hello- I've been spending so much time researching proper diet for my baby red foot that will be here tomorrow that I forgot to find out about what kind of substrate to put it on. I have heard that bark is used, but I hate the evil red dust that comes off of it, lodging between scales and coating everything...
I do have a lot of cypress mulch on hand-- would this work? Seems to me that it would hold moisture well... and would be good to burrow in. I also have rabbit pellets, but have heard that they are too drying.
Please help!
