: I hope I'm not beating the subject to death, but I need advice/opinions. I was worried when my Petco got their huge shipment of WC leopard torts. I thought that since they were selling them for $219 the people who got them would be more willing to "protect their investment" and take them to the vet and care for them properly. I have been wanting a Leopard but am not sure if I live in a warm/dry enough area for long term. I've been avoiding Petco so I wouldn't be tempted, but one of my friends mentioned that none have sold and now the price has changed to $75. What can/should I do?

Its a tough choice. If you buy one you might encourage them to get more. If none are bought then they wont order any more, but the ones they have will not be properly taken care of and die a slow death. On the other hand they might sell all of them to people who wont know how to take care of them or lose interest after a few months. Perhaps you buying one or two and giving them fantastic care would be the most humane thing to do.
