In Oct of 1999 he was 78 grams (puny, microscopic!) and a year
later Oct of 2000 he was 652 grams (itty bitty) that's a steady
daily gain of right about 2 grams, that was his growth rate.
2 years ago today he was right at 1154 grams (hardly 2 pounds),
after a certain time his weight gain increased (they can't gain
2 grams a day all their lives - rate of growth differs with
age/current size) last Nov (2001) he was 7 1/2 pounds and today
he's pushing 18 pounds - though to me he looks small, I have
things I can compare him too, plus people that don't see him
often say he's getting to be a "big fat etc..."
The weight comparison shows Teddy's early weight gains with
one Sulcata in England's growth. You can see the curve of
growth increase.
However if you're only keeping it in a rubbermaid tub even now,
you must be in a non-sulcata keeping climate - they thrive on
sunshine. Also - no fruits for sulcatas at all.
Get a postal scale and keep weight records of yours (weigh
weekly) and if it's not growing then that's NOT right, it's not
thriving. If it is growing - even slowly that's good, but
consider your sulcatas opportunity to bask and graze outdoors
as well as exercise as compared to sitting in a tub almost 24/7.
Also growth can be a product of food, genetics and whether it's
a male or female possibly.
