Hi, Here are a few tips for you...
Be sure to use kale lettuce in your red-foot's diet, because it contains calcium, which is quite important for the proper growth of your tortoise's shell. (you can get that from any grocery store)
Peat moss is good. I used to use soft soil as well. (can't remember what kind in particular). I guess this is also nice & soft for the redfoot's plastron, as they are so delicate when the tortoise is young.
I'd use a heat lamp if I were you because this casts a natural light setting for them. It helps to keep them active and warm.
Oh, and when you soak him/her, do it before feeding. This seems to somehow "arouse" their appetites. You only need to soak him/her once or twice a week.
-Hope this helps,
Crissy

: Ohhh I love my new redfoot! He (for now I am calling it a he until age can tell) is so beautiful! He is about 3.5inches long in shell and i was hoping I could get some info about finer points of care...

: Can I use a heat lamp to increase the temp or woulda heat pad be best? He is currently on peat moss, what is best for him?

: How long do I soak him for each day and should it be before or after his feeding?
