Well, i know that you had nothing to do with it, but that is the saddest/sickest thing i have heard in a while. (i once had a fish disapear in my tank for three weeks but that is another story!) I dont have aquatic turtles but i do know that a turtle taken out of the wild will probably not survive if it is that small. IF you keep it out on the patio , try putting a screen on top of the pool held down with a rock or something heavy. if you have a submersible filter, (like a ehiem or a fluval [email me if you have no idea what i am talking about!!]) that will keep the water clean, and at that size they eat basicly pond slime and green goop from the pond. watch for salmanella(sp) and dont expose any other animals to the new one, because of the disease factor. i am sorry i cant help farther, but at that size it is amazing that it has lasted as long as it has!! good luck at keep me posted, you can email me if you need some more non-exoert advise!
