Hi everyone-
I have a quick question about my two Greek tortie hatchlings. They were born/hatched approximately mid-October. I've had them since 12/1. They were about the same size when I got them - both fit in the palm of my hand (at the same time). VERY different personalities - they're a lot of fun!
I've been tracking their weights/sizes since I got them. First let me say they both eat VERY well - weeds, shredded veggies, and assorted lettuces (as detailed in the A. C. Highfield Tortoise Trust guidelines.) And I know they both eat because they have different waking schedules - Annie is up first thing and eats heartily, but Amanda is not a morning tortie - she eats later and also gets plenty. There is always extra left over after both eat, so that's not the issue. But Amanda is about TWICE the size of Annie.
Their health seems impeccable. I've never wormed or treated them for anything because they seem so healthy - my vet agrees. No shell malformation, everything looks great. Is this size differential for hatchlings from the same clutch normal? I thought it might be an issue of one not letting the other eat, but I've been monitoring them VERY closely for about a month and that isn't it at all.
Am I just worrying for no reason or does this sound weird to anyone else?
Thanks in advance!
Jenny
