There were two succesfull rescues yesterday, Freight rescued the alligator snapper and a Gulf Coast box turtle is about to be rescued by Leo.
The Gulf coast boxie has been living at a school for many years. Her name is Hilda and her home is a Rubbermaid with a couple of pieces of newspaper as substrate.
Her water dish is too small and shallow or her to get in and soak, and she gets fed a hard boiled egg every now and then, if she's lucky.
Leo has been in contact with the teacher for a while now, trying to get her to improve the turtles living conditions, or give her up.
The teacher was pretty much ignoring him and any effort to improve things for her class turtle.
But yesterday things turned around and it seems that Hilda will soon be going to live with Leo and his other Gulf coast boxies. YEA....
So congrats to Freight and Leo, for helping out two turts in need :)
You can read more about Hilda at the box turtle forum.
