I was wondering if anybody could give me any advice on the care of a newly-hatched sulcatta tortoise (about 3-4 days old). I was told to feed green leafy lettuces, alfalfa, grated carrot and yellow squash, and fresh grass. I was told to let him soak every other day, and mist him a couple of times daily.
I have him in a 28 Quart rubbermaid sweaterbox on fine cyprus mulch with a shallow tupperware dish buried to its rim for ease of entering/exiting water. Using a heating pad under one side of the box, along with a reflector clamp-lamp with a 60 watt bulb. I was considering making him a little house to hide in.
I guess my major concerns are diet and supplements, and should I keep him a bit more humid since he is so young, should I mist his enclosure daily, more, or not at all? Does he have any needs as a hatchling that I have overlooked?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank You,
Janine
