: Hi,
: I have a pair of russian torts that just came out of hibernation about a week ago.
(SNIP)
I am continuosly amazed at the breeding behavoir. The females never seem receptive. The males always persistant.
I have bred them with and without hibernation.
Hibernation doesn't seem to be an absolute necessity. Mine mate like crazy in the spring and usually lay eggs at the end of summer.
Others that I know have females that lay in the spring....
