After reading Reptile Lighting 2000 by David Krughoff I was shocked to find out just how ineffective the current UV lights I was using were. I’m talking about the good ones too. Like the Zoo Med Repti Sun 5.0 bulbs. In his book David measured the output of most of the popular UV lights and in less than 6 months most of the lights were putting out zero UV! David described Active UV bulbs as being the biggest break through in reptile husbandry in his career.

I just starting using the Active UV lights about 2 weeks ago and what a difference. My wife and I volunteer at a reptile rescue and they also use Active UV. They have a bunch of photos of what reptiles looked like before using Active UV and after and it’s amazing.

I would definitely read up on the Active UV bulbs and I'm positive you will like what you find.
Hope this helps.
