Hoku my smallest sulcata is back on Baytril, because of a dog attack.
One of the wounds showed signs of infection, so he's on Baytril to fight off infection. A 5 shot course, one shot every other day.
Bubba my 14" male also went to the vet yesterday. He occasionally will get a very slight runny nose, very slight.
It usually clears up after a couple of days, but this time it didn't.
It got a bit worse and the nares were obviously a bit blocked up.
So he was put on a course of Baytril, 5 shots over 15 days (a shot very 3 days).
I've noticed a bit of whistling every now and then, from my sulcatas. But unless it's persistent or there are other signs (runny nose/bubbling etc)difficultly breathing,I don't think it's a big problem.
What substrate do you keep your tortoise on?
Some substrates can cause iritation of the nares.
As far as the shots go, it is posible to cause pain at the injection site. Especially if the shots are all given in the same leg/area. If he doesn't improve and start using the leg soon, you might want to have it checked out.
Hoku limped for a few days, when he got a shot in the leg.
