Sorry about the blank message, I hit enter before I should...
Anyway, I'm glad to hear that Hoku is doing better and active. he sounds like such a tough little guy!!
I wanted to show you ChooChoo, a Chinese Box Turtle that lives with us. First, he was abandoned in a park, then some nice people found him but before they could get him to the wildlife center, their dogs mauled him. The vet didn't think he was going to make it. But he did. (: My husband saw him at the wildlife center and fell in love. How could you not, look at that face? He's a real sweetie.
Peace,
~Christine

: : Just got back from the vet, Hoku went for his check up today.
: : He's doing good but is back on a course of Baytril.
: : When the patch covering the missing area of his carapace was removed, a bit of infection was discovered.
: : But the area is healing quickly, about an inch long and half an inch wide (this is a 3" tort), but it's starting to heal over nicely.
: : It was cleaned and repatched. Hoku goes back in about two months to have it checked again. if all goes well the patch might be removed permanently then.
: : Hoku also tested positive for a protozoan infection though and had a dose of flagyl, he goes back in 10 days for a second dose.
: : He's doing great though, eating well and very active.
: : Bubba has a bit of a respiratory problem . So he went in today also and is on a course of Baytril.
