: What is there to forgive? you are asking questions before you do something and that is all that anyone can ask! I think it is great that you want to learn the correct way before you get a new animal.
Ideally, tanks are not the gratest for touts, they need room to wander and grow and explore, Most tanks are about 12 inches wide ( the breeders are 18 ) but even then the glass does not allow for acurate ventalation. i know that rubbermais containers have been populare because you could add holes for vents and are really cheap.
I have worked in a pet store enviroment for close to 5 years and i know first hand what happens. the place i work has a limited amount of space and tanks are the most versital for the amount of different species that a store offers.
it is not the most healthy but it is the best way to keep clean enviroments. (i am sorry you cant hear the tone in my head as i am saying this to myself, i really am not trying to defend the stores and i am not being sarcastic!!!!! I promise!!)
thank you again for being a concerned pet owner i wish everyone thought before they purchesed!\
good luck
