My bigger tort has now nipped the smaller to the point that red is showing. For now I've moved them apart. The vet suggests separating them (duh--except I don't want to run 2 pens) and the pet store has offered to swap a new tort for the biter, recommending that I get a female. This seems inconsistent with what I've read about males beating up females during mating--indeed I'm thinking the bigger male thinks the smaller is female(I'm assuming both the pet store and the vet sexed them correctly). I'm inclined to take the swap offer, trade the biter, and get a slightly smaller male. Thoughts would be appreciated.
