Hi folks,
I am getting a number of phone calls, e-mails, etc about WC SICK
Leopoard torts....being offered for as little as $89.99.

IF YOU LIVE NEAR A PETCO......

PLEASE, go in and check to see what's up....it will only take you a few
minutes, we have got a problem brewing here big time....and I need to know
what's up in as MANY PetCo's as possible.

If they do have Leopards or other WC torts, please observe the following
(but do NOT approach staff, it's useless!)

1. Substrate-what are they using?
2. Sick animals? Listless, swollen eyes, signs of pneumonia incl. open
mouth breathing, extended necks, ticks on animals, dehydration.
3. Food being offered, what is it and is it being eaten?
4. Posting of appropriate signage stating what is proper care for these
animals? What does it say?
5. Hiding places?
6. Loose or otherwise abnormal looking stools in the encosure(s)
7. Number of animals in "stock" How many in each enclosure?
8. Price?
9. Dead animals?
10. Temperature?
10. Make CERTAIN to include the address....

Please DO NOT approach staff....just observe what you can, and let me know
please?

Send what you find to

mailto:tortoiseaid@envirolink.org

Thank you for any assistance you can provide....

I got an unbelievable phone call last night....these animals need help.
Also....if you like, please feel free to re-post this message in it's
entirety to other tortoise forums....just check and make sure no one else
has before you do....

I am getting e-mail from all over the USA, we DO have a problem here :-(
