Make the sides at least 18" above the gound and at least 4" in the ground. If you have a very well behaved dog, you will not have a varmit problem. Place at least 2 openings in the house area to provide adequate ventilation. The summer sun could turn the house area into an oven if not well ventilated.
: Hello. I have a young Russian and here is a pic of the pen I am planning on building him for outside. I am still working on the exact dimensions, but they rely on one thing. That thing is the size of tupperware tub in that shape i can find. I plan on digging a hole and putting in the tub (kind of like an in ground pool) then filling it up with soil and building the pen around it (so I dont have to worry about him burrowing to freedom). The sides will probably be 4X8's. Inside the pen the large hide box that you can see will be above soil (the brown part). the green part is going to be grass, weeds, etc, anyhting he could graze on. I also forgot to put a hide box on the grassy side. I am also going to make a removable top made of chicken wire cause we got some stray cats, opposums and racoons around. So what do you guys think? Any suggestions? Additions? Retractions?
: Thanks for the input, Ryan
