i completely understand, i went through the same thing not long ago. Ed suggested i get a redfoot. Maybe you should try one, they appear to be a somewhat easier tort to keep. I don't know when i'll get a new baby, maybe never. I am a curse to turtles. I can keep EVERY OTHER reptile or amphibian. i have many different snakes, bearded dragons, leapord geckos, 2 chameleons (which are pretty hard to keep) and various others, but i can't keep a turtle. Now, this lady i know has 2 baby sliders, well they are about 1 or 2 years. She has them in a small tank with a dish of water, no uvb, no heat, no nothing. the only thing wrong with them are sliight shell deformities, otherwise they are happy and healthy. Oh well! I'm very sorry about your baby.

: Hi everyone, it is really hard for me to come back to this site. I was here last month seeking advice for my sick little baby sulcuta. I did get a lot of helpful advice from a lot of people and after trying everything the little hatchling died over the weekend. I feel so bad and can't imagine what I did wrong. I tried so hard to do everything right. We did take him to the vet and if you remember he gave us the medication for ten days worth of shots, he did tell me it would be up to the tortoise if he would eat again or not, he never did on his own.I continued to soak him twice a day and added a little bit of reptimin to the water. I fed him usually once a day (with a syringe) with some soup made up of either romaine and yellow squash or strawberries and bananas. I continued to use the uvb light and a daytime heat lamp and a night time heatlamp. I kept him on a soft warm towel. I still think it had to do with the sand in his tank, I think he digested too much of it. I guess i'll never know. i'm trying to decide if I should get another one. I really enjoyed him he was so sweet and gentle but, now I feel like I'm not a good caregiver. I just wanted to thank everyone again for the advice
