: Just curious what substrate I should be using for pancake tortoises. I have tried crushed walnut, and now I'm on sand, and I'm seeing too much of the substrate in the fecal matter. I was going to try crushed oyster shells next. Any other suggestions from those of you that keep them?

: Also: If I have a female pancake tortoise that does not seem to be gaining weight and is the lightest of the bunch (1.3) should I isolate her and try to feed her on her own. I'm afraid maybe the others are eating her share or she is timid of chow time. If I had her on her own for a few months I could get her weight back up and hopefully see some growth.

: Thanks

Have you had the female checked for parisites lately?
