The Distance from UV bulb to tortoise will determine what watts you will need. The further away the higher the watts.
On the box there is a chart that reads:
100 watt flood — 6"..........100 watt spot — 18"+
160 watt flood — 18"....... 160 watt spot — 36"+
275 watt flood — 24"
It depends on your set up. I have a 18" X 48 " wood enclosure for my T h hermanni's which are small tortoises. It is 10 " high. I have a UV heat flood bulb, 100 watt on the warm side on a stand that I can move up and down to get the temps just right. On the cool side I have a Reptisun 5.0 UVB Full Spectrum Fluorescent. If it gets real cold at night I put a ceramic heatinng bulb on the warm side.
For bigger enclosures, you can use a 160-275 watt UV heat flood bulb. That size on my small enclosure would cook my torts.
If you still need more info go to the Bean Farm website and get the phone number and call them. They are very helpful and would have no problem explaining anything to you. http://www.beanfarm.com/
