In the southwest the fruitless Mulberry seems to be the most common. (the tortoises love it) One suggestion, if it just for the tortoise you might want to pot it. They grow fast and have this horrendous root system that will destroy the yard if not contained. The roots can and will get THICKER than the trunk.
