Susan, if you can show me one study to support what you are saying I will forever be an advocate against mixed species setups. As it stands there is no real reason not to keep similar species together. Sulcatas and Leopards are such a combination. Redfoots and yellowfoots are another. If you are looking to breed these species by all means do not mix them but if we are talking healthy family pets there is no reason not to. Take a look at the flora of South Africa and you will surely find different species of tortoise occupying the same habitat.
