: : why would they not need a heat lamp if they have a uv bulb? uv bulbs don't provide heat.

: Active UV does.
yes i know active uv does provide heat, i didn't read it right, sorry

: :i would have agreed with your statement on heat rocks in the past, but they have improved greatly in the last few years. They do not rise above a certain temp, and the entire surface is also the same temp. Most people do let their houses go below 60 at nite, around here anyway.

: I lived there for many years, most people kept their homes at 65-70, at least the ones I knew, now you are over generalizing. im talking about at night. most people i know use blankets and turn down the heat

: :My bearded dragon doesn't drink from his water dish either, but he LOVES to soak himself.

: Where in the wild would P. Viticeps soak? Last time I checked there range was hot and dry deserts. i didn't say that they soak in the wild, i'm saying they like to.

: :The mealworms are basically for variety.

: Mealworms are not nutritious and can be dangerous because small beardeds can not digest the shell of a mealworm.
not to adults they aren't

: :The pellets are not to be a replacement for fruits and veggies. A lot of dragons like pellets.

: :Food should be supplemented with the powder if it is kept under artifcial lighting, the artificial lights don't produce as much uvb as the sun.

: Active UV gets pretty close.
like i said, most people that come into the store want to spend less money initially, therefore most people get regular uv bulbs

: :I'd like to see the study you found though, because my vet says to supplement.

: Whose your vet? What is their specialty, have they done any fieldwork with reptiles?
you know who my vet is

: :We do not keep the active uv in stock because of 2 reasons, no one buys them because the initial price is to high for them, and because half of them get stolen. We offer them as an option and will order them if they want it.

: Thats convenient it costs less in the long run.
we know it costs less in the long run, but most people arent concerned for the log run, they are concerned for the initial cost

: Justin
