I've been keeping my two little greek hatchlings in a setup suggested by the breeder I got them from. A Rubbermaid tub (shoebox sized) with two water pools, food, and a hide box. They don't have substrate yet - I change the paper towel out every morning. Repti-sun and Incandescent bulbs as well, though I'm looking at the UVHeat bulbs for a replacement.
Well, the girls have started to try to dig up under the paper towels. I find them like that most mornings. They are steadily growing and look great. At what point should I put them in a more "normal" setup? With substrate so they can burrow, like they seem to be trying to do?
What would be the best substrate for Greeks? I also keep a gecko and Ornate boxies - I use repti-bark for the gecko and bed-a-beast for the boxies, but both of them need a far higher humidity gradient than these girls supposedly do. Would Bed A Beast be good or should I look for another substrate? Any suggestions?
Thanks a bunch!
Jenny
