: I had a female (WC adult) that would actually roll and push full sized cinder blocks around the yard. She would attempt to kill ANY smaller (subordinate) female and other tortoise species were also on the hit list. As far as an attack I once had a large male of ours make a run at me and it skinned a nice part of my ankle and probably could have cracked it if I stood my ground. They are wonderful tortoises, BUT you need to use common sense with them and have secure areas for them to live within.
