In Reply to: Adult huge sulcata owners please read.... posted by K on December 25, 2001 at 10:52:51:
: Hi,
: I have read so much about adult sulcata smells, how bad it actually is? (from poops and body) So there is really no way to keep one in door in the winter?

I have also read these very same things. I can only tell you that it may be because they (who ever they are), are feeding the animal an unnatural diet. The excrement from a sulcata that is grazing, dieting on varied greens and hay should smell no more then a cows or a horse's. The problem is the urates and urine..this has a real nasty odor and should be cleaned up as soon as it is released. As far as body odor goes, if you don't clean them every now and then they will have some, but not as bad as walking around with a cloud around them. I may bathe my biggest sulcata once or twice all winter, and only bring him in during the coldest nights and let him out again in the morning.
