Why do you want a sulcata? For me one of the joys of having a particular species is be able to watch the inate activities of that species. If you don't want the sulcata to act like a sulcata, then why are you choosing this species? There are smaller tortoises out there that can be kept outside year-round in enslosures that won't take up your entire yard. I've seen Russian tortoises kept in outdoor pens that allowed them to roam, dig, and climb, while still allowing a landscapped yard.

: Too bad Aldabra is too expensive or I would have gotten one.....perhaps in the future. One more questions, is it OK to NOT let the sulcatas dig? Even if I move it outside in the summer, I don't want it to dig the yard. Is it OK to make the outdoor pen with concrete floor?
