I live in Tucson, Az and have been breeding many species for years (Leopards, sulcata, and the Mediterranean species. I grow a mixture of things in their pens including Bermuda, clover, and even Niger (thistle seed) and dichondra. I also overseed with Rye every winter. I also have a seperate area where I grow alfalfa, but also give all types of tortoises alfalfa hay as well. Most captive tortoises do not get enough fiber which is so important in captive animals. Hope this helps. Heck, even dandelions are good.
