My sulcata Ed doesn't really dig. He lives outside pretty much all year around. Inside at night in the winter and rainy days. He just goes to a big clump of tall grass and sorta hides in it or else to a corner. When my CDT's dug a burrow this summer he did take advantage of it. Except he was to big and pretty much destroyed it.
I wouldn't use concrete for a number of reasons. Abrasive to the shell. Too cold in AM and cool days. Not much fun for me to look at and probably not much fun for the sulcata. If you want him to thrive, he has to be happy as well as healthy.
: : sometimes sulcatas won't dig if they have a shelter,
: This is very true!!
: I have heard of many people having trouble with their sulcatas digging huge and long holes but mine have never done that. I have concluded long ago that mine do not dig because they like the shelters I have provided. This is supported not only because they do not dig but also because they religiously head for them about 2 hours before sunset. I can count on every single sulcata being in it's place at sunset.
