Are you by any chance a breeder or dealer of reptiles? Would you at least agree that perhaps it might make more sense to hatch fewer sulcata and charge higher prices for those produced?

Yes, I am using "ought to be" logic. I think an animal ought to be sold at a price that reflects the level of care required to care for it. Using that logic, a hatchling sulcata should not be sold for $50 to "first come, first served" customers. It should be sold for considerably more. Now, that won't stop all "impulse" purchases, or purchases by those ill-iquipped to care for a giant tortoise, but it will help to some extent. THAT is what I would like to see changed. I would like to see other, easier to care for, captive bred tortoises sold for less than captive bred sulcata tortoises.
