pine and cedar are not good, they are intended for small animals, not reptiles. it isn't made t be digeted, it's made to be absorbent. cedar also has tons of oils in it. there is a wood chip that is made for reptiles, it's called keepers choice. i dont know how it is for tortoises but it's great for snakes!

: The substrate I mentioned in a different post below was "a uniqu blend of pine fir cedar and some other wood shavings" Now, isnt pine toxic? I'm not absolutely sure so I need this answered very soon! The guy that sold it to me said that he prefers using it instead of regular old woodchips used for most reptiles cause they are in smaller bits so they can burrow easier. I think this guy had no idea what he was talking about. Please I need an answer quick!
