In Reply to: IS $80 A GOOD PRICE FOR A LEOPARD TORTOISE? need 411 on them posted by @l@n on January 27, 1999 at 19:15:55:
: I can get a baby Leopard Tortoise right now for $80...is this a good deal? I'm looking forward to expanding my herp collection into the turtle/tortoise category, and this is the most attractive I've ever seen. My local Petco just got about 10 of them in today, and I'm seriously considering getting one. Please respond if you could tell me anything about Leopard Tortoises. I'd like to know if their requirements are hard to meet(what they are in the first place), if they work well in captivity, what age they can breed at, if they make good pets, and if it is a good choice. PLEASE RESPOND
:: ya know i have seen more and more people selling cb leopards so there is really no reason to buy a wc one. I also have a friend who was just GIVEN a 10" leopard because the owners were tired of it. I predict there will be many of these guys in need of homes after unknowing buyers realize how large they get, etc. I wish more people were having success at breeding box turtles so we wouldn't be depleting the wild stock! Rachel :)
