Tom, -tortoises do not all behave the same or have the same preferences I have 5 hideboxes in the enclosure (I only have 3 russians), but when I had a water dish in there I always had at least one who decided he wanted to be under the water dish. Mine are set up correctly and are thriving in my opinion, they are actively growing, heavy, and healthy. I do not think that I should keep a water dish in with them, you might think different. I am not going to change your opinion and you will not change mine. So we'll just agree to disagree here and drop it.
