: : Virgil grew exactly 1" in length from Dec. 2000-Dec. 2001 and he is a year and 3 months. He is a tiny bit over 3" long (plastron). He appears healthy as a horse. What does your baby's shell look like now?
: His shell is slightly pyramided. I contribute this to an ill advised early diet of mainly fruits and veggies. I have since learned better and am hoping to correct the shell shape as much as possible.
I think that Virgil is on a schedule similar to Linda's tortoise, but I don't know that his shell will be as gorgeous. Virgil has some flat, barely raised spots on his shell, nothing pointy as of now. But I'm told even that shouldn't be there. I am paranoid about the pyramiding. Niki's Teddy is very nice and obviously well loved and cared for. I think he's only about 2 1/2 years old or so. He's much bigger than I think Virgil will be at that age. It's hard to say what's normal. I'm hoping slow and steady wins the race.
