My 3 adult russians live outside all year around. Right now they are sleeping. I do have a SHALLOW water dish out for them at all times. I have never seen them soak, but they do walk up to the edge and drink. There are smooth 2" rocks in the bottom for traction just in case they should ever get into it. Also some small water plants (frog bit I think its called) I just feel they should have the choice and I think it gives them something else to do in their enclosure. They are inqusitive and like to explore.
: We just go a russian tortoise. Our question is does he need a water bowl in his cage? Some books say yes and some say no.
