Hi Bob,
Glass aquariums usually frustrate the tortoises because they can see the world on the other side of the glass and try to get there! If you go to the hardware store you can buy these really really big rubbermaid containers and they can house a pair of Russians over winter. It is true that these animals do best outside if climate and weather permits. THe following web-site has several outdoor and indoor set-ups that should help you out and a list of foods that Russians do well on. If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact me.
