So how did you know about the temperatures in the frozen tundra and the supposed "anti-freeze" in the tort, the tooth fairy tell ya? (just pulling your leg).
Obviously the books I've read disagree with the books (or people) you refer to. If this guy's fridge stays at 36-42, the tort will be fine.
I've read the "russians can survive to 3F thing, but I recall my source saying they also can suffer frozen organs. And that their hibernation spots are chosen so that they stay well above freezing.
And the Tortoise Trust, while reviled by many, does seem to offer advice that stays well within the zone of safety. And they have many years of experience, whereas I do not.
So if you get a chance could you point me to the source that says hibernating a russian at a consistent sub-32F is OK, and will result in no damage at all? I'm interested in other points of view.
