Thanks for the advice on the temperature...so a hundred then in the hot spot. the vet gave him two cc's of fluids into the webbing, and then an injection of gentamicin into the 'hump' as they call it. In addition, he prescribed cefazolin to be given every other day in conjuction with 1 cc of fluid and the 0.1 cc of Baytril. Is soaking dangerous due to evaporative cooling? i've been doing it because he looked so dry, but haven't been sure about possible ill effects. he really perked up after getting stuck with all those needles. one of the techs mentioned a drug used elsewhere, i think she called it 'forten' or something like that. has anyone heard of that? thanks again for all the help.
