: hii have a male russian tortoise and i bought a female because i thought he looked lonely. but when i put them together he bites her. i think he is trying to mate with her but she is not old enough and she gets really scared when she is by him. i want to put them together but he is just really mean to her. i dont think that he likes her very much. what should i do about this? can i ever put them together? will he always be so mean to her? any info would be great thx a lot
I had the same experience, but with an Egyptian Tortoise. I had a male, so I decided to get another kleinmanni to keep it company and he just went at it. He bit, rammed, clawed, climbed over it, attempted to roll it on its back... so I decided to separate them before someone gets hurt. I will put them together when they are both similar in size. Until then, they are in seperate places.
