An African spur thighed tortoise is a Sulcata tortoise.
Greek tortoises are know as spurred tortoises.
If everybody would stop referring to sulcatas as spur thighs, it would end the confusion, but apparently old habits die hard.
Sulcatas don't need to hibernate, Greek tortoises do. If you came across information that says a spur thigh tortoise needs to hibernate, it was refering to a Greek tortoise.
