What I do is put them each in their own box, and put it in a closet in an unheated room and shut the door, I check on everyone once or twice a week, all that is needed is to touch a rear foot.

Testudo hibernate just fine this way....I have hibernated my torts like this for 15+ years...

If you live in Hawaii or something where it never gets cold, then you might need to do smething...but I've found that this is the easiest method...and I have never had a tortoise die in hibernation.
