Perhaps we should all ask the HSUS to act on the consumption of turtles in Asia. They are upset about dogs and cats being horribly slaughtered for food in Asia, we just need to educate them about the problems with turtles in Asia, too.

Plus, if you want something, you usually get less than you ask for, when it comes to legislation. Perhaps they are asking for a total ban because they know they will get less than that.

: I wonder if HSUS thought about what would happen to all the reptiles that are presently in the care of people? What would they like, maybe to have them all collected and killed? I'd like to see them try to get my little guys away from me!

: I actually take in the injured, neglected ,unwanted reptiles and rehab them and I'm sure plenty of others do so to, so maybe they should go after stopping wild collection, and ignorance, and end the worst of the problem!

: I feel horrible for all the animals that become pets because they don't belong with us, but in some cases like the Asian species, they are actually better off here than in a soup, or crushed in a box full of turtles waiting to die!!! Better still they would be better off banned from collection and assisted in re-establishing their populations, but good luck getting China to give up their desire to keep their traditions alive.

: Anyway, all kinds of animals suffer needlessly at the hands of the human race, and they will continue to suffer until we no longer exist, as we are the most destructive force on this planet!!!

: So in closing, may we all stand together for our rights, and especially the rights of the animals in our care, as by now they cannot be safely released, have grown dependant of our care, and deserve the right to live their lives as comfortably as possible, so for them we MUST WIN!!!

: We are many against a few, and we must prevail!

: : We seem to all be bad mouthing the HSUS or whatever they call themselves, but lets look at their issues. Maybe they feel there are too many sulcatas dying because of poor captive maintenace. They are right. Maybe they are upset with loose and dangerous reptiles being found quite often in urban and suburban settings, they are right again. Or maybe they are sick of hearing about all the mistreated animals that are stolen from their homes only to die on route to someone's bedroom. Huh some of their issues make alot of sense don't they. Sometimes you have to punish the many to get the few. Instead of blasting them, lets try to clean our acts up. The worst enemy is the enemy within.
