: I have just gotten a sulcata that does the same thing. I've asked several people who said that laying around and/or sleeping with there head out is fine. It could be the tort trying to eighter warm up or cool down.
When my tortoises sleep head out, i look it as contentment-they are relaxed,and have no need to hide.
