You need a Lepoard Tortoise. They are simply beautiful and would thrive very well in the Sacramento climate. I live in Jacksonville Florida which is said by many to be a bad place for them, yet I have 3 of them and have experienced no problems at all.

You can get a baby for about 150.00, and if you look real hard, maybe a well started one for about 200.00 to 300.00. They can get pretty big.
