I love hingebacks, they are really nice tortoises. However, most if not all hingebacks readily available, certainly in pet shops are wild caught. That, in itself, makes for a ton of possible problems. Hingebacks require more humid enclosures and although they can be cared for properly, are probably not the greatest beginner choice due to specific care requirements. Same for Redfoot. Try a Russian, they are great, and not too expensive.
