I've got 4 russians: 2 male, 2 female

One male is placid and easy-going. The other
is very aggressive. He always wants to mate or fight. He lives by himself.

I've kept 2 tortioses (1 male, 1 female or 2 females) in an indoor enclosure with 13 sq ft of floor space.

Outdoors, I keep all 4 in a pen with 64 sq ft of space. I'll expand this next year so the aggressive male has a seperate pen of about 25-30 sq ft. This year I sub-divided the pen so he had about 16 sq ft to himself.

So, don't count on keeping your males and females together. If you do try housing them together, observe them closely. It can take awhile before they establish themselves and start beating up on their neighbors.
