Oh, wow. Beautiful. I'm thinking Florida box turtle - the lines are a little too "clean" for an ornate, IMO. But, either Florida or ornate. It's hard to come by Florida box turtles, believe they're protected in their home range. Looks healthy, too.

: There is NO WAY this is an eastern box turtle, but it is a close relative. I belive it's a Florida Box turtle. Same species, difference sunspecies... Terrapene Carolina Carolina Is eastern... Florida is Terrapene Carolina... umm I forget actually... but it's certianly not an eastern. Florida boxes are similar to easterns though... look for care sheets for Florida Boxes and that'll tell you how to take care of it.
: Unlike a tortoise, this is a species that needs moisture and humidity. They are a woodland turtle, living in damp underbrush and leaves... and frequently goign into shallow water to drink, perform bodily functions, or soak and rehydrate.
: : : ok... how lame is this. Apparently, I can't figure out how to post the link in the link space below, so I will cut and paste... Duh. This page used to have pics of my cat... hence the cat in the title. Thanks again!http://mingogirl8.homestead.com/cat.html
: : It's an eastern box turtle. It could be male, because the bottom shell is concave. How did you obtain this turtle?
