I adopted 2 one year olds from the CTTC myself this summer. What a great group! I just love my babies and they are thriving. I will soon be sending in their registration papers. As far as I know in CA they are not released into the wild so as not to spread URD to wild populations (don't know about Arizona). I would advise you not to start "collecting" hatchlings until you know more about long term adoption programs for them. Zab

: It is unlikey that the CDTs were bought in a pet store because as you pointed out they are endangered and it is illegal to buy or sell or breed them. I would donate it to the California Turtle and Tortoise Club. They probably have you foster care for it until they find a home. Just in the year 2000 alone they placed 157 desert tortoises. (see web site for the stats)http://www.tortoise.org/
: That number is sure to be similiar this year.
