: Also a population of chuckawallas in Mexico has been found that have an astronomical amount of oxalic acid in the diet. They eat plants so high in them that insects won't touch the plants.
The Golden Bamboo lemur of Madagascar thrives on a diet that is extremely high in cyanide. There are numerous examples of specific animals in specific habitats adapting to a seemingly harmful diet. Obviously you cannot always safely apply that diet to other species.
