uhm, i never had a uv bulb blow!!!!!! do you replace your starter? if not, do that! that will make your bulb blow.

: I use it durning the winter months as you do. UV lighting is a great thing to provide for your tortoises, but it pales in comparison to natural sunlight.

: If I were you, I would get a normal cheap UVB for your lamp and replace it every 3 months, or spend the 40 + dollars for those ACTIVE UVB lamps that in theroy provide heat and UV exposure, only in all actuality to blow out in less then 2 months, providing the maker with cash flow and you with more blown out bulbs then Thomas Edison. A good UVB and a flood light will provide all that for 1/2 that money, and last longer.

: In my opinion, sunlight is my recommended UV.
