Hi Katie,

Sometimes even Redfooted tortoises stop eatting when cold weather moves in, even though they are inside and warm, and will go for weeks w/o eatting with no harm. Often they just grow tired of what we are feeding them and NEED something different, especially when kept inside all year. Mine did last winter and for a few weeks the only thing they would eat were weeds from my yard, dandelions, clover and grass. Sometimes tortoises need dirt to eat so leave a little dirt with the grass and weeds. Remember even redfooded tortoise need to cool down at night, cooler than many believe.

Good luck,

Mike Palmer
